A new universe of Caravaggio lamps

Caravaggio Read is yet another addition to designer Cecilie Manz’ iconic Caravaggio series. Based on the wall lamp’s adjustable shade, she has created a whole new universe of Caravaggio lamps with functional, directional light. These small lamps do exactly what they should and have a design that is as simple and minimalist as possible. The Caravaggio Read series includes 12 different lamps covering table-, floor- and wall lamps in black, white, light grey matt lacquering as well as hand-blown opal glass.

The common denominator for Caravaggio Read is the classic shade installed on a flexible pipe that makes it possible to tilt the shade and thereby direct the light. The table and floor lamp can rotate 260 degrees around its own axis thus giving the user an extraordinary degree of flexibility. The lamps are also fitted with a 3-step touch control dimmer on the stand for adjustment of light intensity. The small diameter of the base means that it is easy to position the lamp. In this way, the table lamp may stand in the window frame or on a shelf, whereas the floor lamp can be pulled all the way to the sofa and provide you with light exactly where

you need it. The floor lamp is fairly low to ensure that the light is more intimate. The wall lamp can rotate 180 degrees, which – together with the flexible pipe – makes it very flexible to use. The switch is placed discreetly at the bottom of the wall bracket to make it easily accessible. The wall lamp is supplied with two fittings; one for direct installation to a power outlet and a slimmer version for installation with visible wiring.

All lamps have three narrow slits at the top of the shade that allow light to pass through. The metal lamps give a soft and targeted light, while the opal lamps sends out a warm and diffused light.

The design of Caravaggio has been known and loved since the first 4 pendants were presented back in 2005. With her customary flair for function and aesthetics, Cecilie Manz has continued to further develop the Caravaggio collection, which now comprises 34 different pendel designs, 10 table lamps, 7 floor lamps and

4 wall lights. Caravaggio is one of the relatively few lamps that can be spotted all over the world in everything from exclusive hotel facilities, minimalist cafes and trendy retail outlets to the private home.

Caravaggio Read is presented at Northern Light Fair in Stockholm in February and will be available in stores from August 2016.
