Plazza Futuroscope, LED lighting made in France

The illumination project for the new entrance

Episode 2

In the series on the Plazza Futuroscope lighting project, ACTiLED Lighting, the Nantes-based LED lighting designer and manufacturer, reveals the ins and outs of the lighting system's design and manufacture in 3 episodes.

In this second chapter, figures for the pergola and luminaires are revealed.

This episode highlights Futuroscope's eco-responsible approach, with the choice of an eco-designed product manufactured in France, a commitment that is part of a wider sustainable development plan and an ambition to aim for carbon neutrality by the end of 2025 in terms of energy and heat emissions.

The new entrance: plant-inspired architecture

The new Plazza Futuroscope is reminiscent of an open-air garden, where architectural aesthetics meet plants. Natural elements such as a garden, trees and a water fountain coexist with metal structures inspired by plants: giant corollas, metal shades in the shape of flower petals (a nod to the Futuroscope logo) and other elements with a plant-like touch.

The canopy: an emblematic feature of the new entrance

The Plazza Futuroscope is criss-crossed by a long canopy over 250 metres long, made up of 11 pergolas, creating a shady, welcoming atmosphere for visitors.

Each pergola is supported by 8 posts, 4 on the Aquascope side and 4 on the Arena side. Each pergola incorporates 20 LED luminaires distributed in the arms of the structure at a sufficient height to ensure that the LED tubes are inaccessible to the public, while their optimal positioning facilitates maintenance operations.

Focus on LED lighting based on a combination of choices

*** Technical and aesthetic choices

Although the LED tubes, thanks to their streamlined shape, integrate harmoniously in terms of length, 1200mm, and diameter, 40mm, concealing the cables represented a technical challenge for the installation teams.

*** Environmental choices

ACTiLED tubulars are designed in the Nantes design departments in Sainte-Luce-Sur-Loire and manufactured in its workshops, less than 180km from the installation site in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou.

ACTiLED Lighting integrates eco-design concepts into the development of its LED luminaires. 63% of components are manufactured in France, 82% in Europe. LED sources are interchangeable, extending the life of the luminaires and limiting the consumption of resources linked to the production of new equipment.
