The restoration of the Kremlin floor
A project that leaves its mark on the floors of Russia’s most iconic symbol.
The Moscow Kremlin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990, is not only an architectural marvel—it stands as a symbol of Russia’s institutional and historical continuity. Perched on the left bank of the Moskva River, this iconic complex dates back to the 12th century and has hosted tsars, Soviet leaders, and today, the President of the Russian Federation.
During the 1990s, at a crucial turning point for post-Soviet Russia, the Kremlin underwent an extensive renovation to reflect the country’s evolving image. A project of such magnitude required the highest standards of craftsmanship and aesthetic excellence.
Berti Wooden Floors was chosen for this exclusive commission thanks to its international reputation for producing refined, artistic parquet. The work involved creating modular inlaid wood flooring, crafted with extreme precision in Berti’s Italian headquarters and assembled on-site by local artisans.
Challenges Met with Tailored Solutions
✔ Absolute precision: Even a millimeter’s deviation would have disrupted the intricate design. Using advanced high-definition laser cutting, Berti ensured flawless execution.
✔ Premium materials: Only the finest woods, carefully selected for durability and beauty, were used.
✔ Raised installation: The flooring was designed for elevated installation—combining practicality with timeless elegance.
This remarkable project further reinforced Berti Wooden Floors’ international leadership in luxury inlaid parquet. The Kremlin, still Russia’s institutional core, is now also home to the unique signature of Italian craftsmanship—a refined legacy that continues to make history.
