Street furniture transforms educational outdoor spaces

The ROC van Amsterdam project turns a circulation area into an outdoor space designed for resting, talking and studying between classes.

Outdoor areas are also part of the educational experience. At ROC van Amsterdam, an institution with more than 33,000 vocational students across nine locations, a selection of Cervic Environment street furniture has been installed to create a more comfortable, greener and more functional setting.
The project combines the Osaka and Málaga benches, the Osaka planter and the Valencia litter bin. Together, these solutions help organise seating areas, introduce plants and support practical waste management.

Modular solutions for different activities
The Osaka bench can be combined with square and diamond-shaped planters to create linear, geometric or surrounding layouts. This modular system can define areas, organise circulation and create small meeting points.
The Málaga bench includes straight and curved modules for open and social configurations. Its curved shapes encourage conversation and allow the seating to be adapted to different spaces and layouts.
The Osaka planter brings greenery into the area and visually softens the surrounding architectural surfaces. The 100-litre Valencia litter bin completes the installation with a practical solution that fits into the overall design.

Materials designed for outdoor use
The benches and litter bin include WPC slats. This material has a wood-like appearance and is resistant to moisture, temperature changes and intensive use. It does not splinter, is easy to clean and does not require regular treatment.
The project shows how benches, planters and litter bins can transform an educational outdoor area into a more welcoming, flexible and durable space.
