Not just successful sofas: the Matteo Thun Studio in Milan designs its first easy chair for désirée. It’s name is “Rito”, a play on opposites

In an intriguing game of contrasts, the metal base enhances the generosity of the seat. Its compact volumes makes it suitable for any room in the home

It’s the first easy chair designed for Désirée by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, with whom the company has been collaborating for some time on furniture projects, most of which regard very successful sofas. We are talking about RITO, the new easy chair that skilfully combines opposites, playing on an interesting combination made up of the lightness and minimalism of the structure in tubular metal and the softness and generosity of the padded seat. It’s a magnificent example of sophisticated simplicity based on a concept best-described by three keywords: lightness, simplicity and sleekness.

Its silhouette looks as if it is flying and its shape is, at once, compact and delicate. Its sleek lines and its ultra-light metal structure are contrasted by a soft cushion that gives it a simple yet elegant appeal. The intriguing game of opposites carries on as you look at it from different angles: sturdy with a strong presence when observed from the front, it is slim and tapered when seen from the side.

RITO is a chair designed for comfort, no matter whether you are taking a long or short break: the backwards-slanting backrest gives it a welcoming, wraparound appearance that invites you to relax. Designed for any room in the home - from the living room to the bedroom – RITO is a practical and beautiful piece of occasional furniture which naturally brings to mind the outdoor life thanks to its plain, metal structure reminiscent of the frame of outdoor furniture, but without the discomfort. Its versatility also depends on its compact volume and its lack of armrests that makes it suitable for even the smallest of spaces.

Available in completely-removable fabrics and leathers in various colours, RITO's seat is filled with feathers and polyurethane in different densities and boasts an exclusive, slatted support covered with feather-proof fabric. The metal base is painted in a matt bronze colour.
