World-Class Music, World-Class Comfort: Ferco equips RIAM for Musicians and Audiences

The Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), situated in the historic heart of Dublin on Westland Row, has significantly transformed into Ireland's leading music campus, boasting modern facilities designed to accommodate various performances and events. The project aimed to revamp two critical spaces within the academy – the prestigious Whyte Recital Hall and the versatile Lecture Theatre – to create world-class venues for musicians, artists, and audiences.

The crown jewel of the Royal Irish Academy of Music's performance spaces is the Whyte Recital Hall. This purpose-built chamber music recital hall epitomises acoustical excellence, featuring a meticulously designed horseshoe layout with 300 seats. The hall is a testament to the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, incorporating luxurious timber finishes and showcasing renowned Irish artworks.

The academy's partnership with Purcell Construction, TODD Architects, and the choice of seating models from Ferco has elevated the overall experience for musicians, students, and audiences alike. Its state-of-the-art facilities further enhance the Royal Irish Academy of Music's commitment to fostering sustainability.

Ferco installed 333 seats across the two venues. Each seat has been thoughtfully arranged to create a shared, immersive experience for musicians and audiences.

Seating Specification for the Whyte Recital Hall:

The project incorporated the Beaufort seat model, customised with wooden features to align with the hall's design aesthetics. Ferco has installed:

- 91 Balcony Seats. Which included 23 custom-designed high seats for a premium viewing experience.

- 190 Lower Floor Seats. This included four rows of easily removable seating installed using an innovative castor system, providing exceptional flexibility for the venue's diverse needs.

The Beaufort seat model, renowned for its stylishness and supreme comfort, was the ideal choice for this esteemed recital hall.

Seating Specification for the Lecture Theatre:

The Ground Floor Lecture Theatre is designed to be versatile and comfortable. With seating for up to 53 attendees and the inclusion of a grand piano, this space is intended for educational purposes, lectures, and smaller gatherings.

The Lecture Theatre was furnished with the Atlantic seat model, incorporating foldaway Wrimatic Lite writing tablets for convenience. Ferco has installed:

52 Seats: The compact yet comfortable Atlantic chairs provide remarkable comfort and versatility for educational and small-scale event settings.
