Built to Last: Ferco RailSeat One Delivers Safety and Savings for Celtic FC

In 2016 Celtic FC made history with the creation of the first safe standing area in the UK. Since then, fans in that dedicated section of Celtic Park - fitted out with nearly 3,000 rail seats - have been able to stand up to watch matches in perfect safety.

The rail seat installed was Ferco's RailSeat One. New at the time to the UK, The RailSeat One enables spectators to stand safely, while at the same time giving ground operators the flexibility to quickly convert the safe standing area to an all-seater configuration whenever regulations require.

With Celtic pushing for this for over 6 years and Ferco supporting both them and the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) for more than 5 years, the introduction of safe standing at Celtic Park was a watershed moment in the fans' campaign, which ultimately led to safe standing being given the green light by the authorities throughout the UK.

With its design based on barrier technology and its robust seat and back, the RailSeat One forms a strong and continuous handrail to prevent any risk of progressive crowd collapse. Slim-line and compact, the seat has been approved for use by both UEFA and FIFA for matches.

At the time of writing, the durability of the RailSeat One had more than proved its worth in terms of savings on maintenance costs, with not a single spare part having been purchased since installation back in 2016.
