Skygarden trumps Urban Heat Islands

Breathing Architecure

Anyone who has ever dragged themselves through scorching streets of a concrete jungle knows the feeling of being hit by blistering heat. Engulfed by impenetrable walls of searing air glancing at the temperature is an absolute waste of effort. Instead of taking a chilled out stroll every step on the grey tarmac between densely erected buildings turns more and more into an exhausting walkabout in the dusty outback. When stumbling from one oasis to the next longed for refreshment terms like climate change, surface sealing, radiant heat become all of a sudden less abstract.

„Urban Heat Islands?“ This expression unravels unmistakeably during a sweaty and sleepless night. The reality of the extreme has been part of our habitat long since.

But how to achieve a liveable and wholesome life balance? Which technological button to press in order to guarantee sustainability and energy efficiency? And how do our Skygardens refer to it? (Im Englischen würde ich hier: “This is where our Skygardens fit in!” schreiben ...)

Urban Greening boosts living quality. As Green Urban Life we have been working with Breathing Architecture for almost two decades – our vertically planted areas on facades not only reduce heat islands in cities significantly they also enhance the microclimate. For this reason, we stand in the front line with Paris, Stuttgart or Vienna which rely on the greening of facades and roofs.

17 years of experience and passion flow into our newly developed system – the Skygardens. Set up/Installed in medium high buildings they boost the green metabolism by means of aesthetic floor gardens.
