A biodynamic urban lighting scheme using 5635-Ligny light bars

The street Robert de Flers is a covered walkway located beneath a slab near the river Seine, it leads to the new shopping centre Beaugrenelle in the 15th district of Paris. Following the area''s renovation, a part of the covered street was up-lighted in 2013.

To provide this «underground» street with a livelier dimension, the Concepto lighting agency designed a lighting system based on the human biological rhythm. The lighting changes its light intensity and colours during the day, whilst at the same time adjusting to human needs. An ambitious and customised lighting project, within which LEC provided suitable lightbars in every single detail.

The LEC 5635-Ligny lightbars were manufactured in multiple sizes to fit into the layout plan of the structure made of concrete.

In order to provide the most genuine lighting integration, it was imperative to make the lightbars

invisible to the pedestrians'' eye sight. Therefore, all the equipement was positionned on specifically

adjusted installation bases behind aluminum covers.

The color transition is ever so sublte and is set up with a DMX control system from sunrise to midnight. Only a LED lightbar can comply with these requirements. It allows emissions of multiple colours from one single small device and to get an accurate colour result.

The project meets with energy performance criteria of the City and as initially defined by the Ville de Paris.

Testimonial from Karine Bonnefoy, Roads Projects Subdivision Manager for the 7th and 15th districts of Paris:

Following this street up-lighting "Feedbacks have been very positive so far...Residents have seen their neighbourhood change instantly for the better and that makes them very happy!"
