DUCAL PALACE IN MANTOVA
Tuscan Floor for the famous ''Camera degli Sposi''
The most beautiful chamber in the world returns to show itself, in fact, after a long restoration, it reopens to the public Camera degli sposi in Palazzo Ducale, with Mantegna's masterpiece frescoes.
When the Masters of Cotto was commissioned by the Brescia Superintendency, in the person of the architect Antonio Mazzeri, I was moved to restore the floor. That moment partly repaid all the sacrifices made in 20 years of hard ethical and passionate work.
When I entered to view the work, I was disconcerted by the beauty of the Palazzo Ducale and above all by the frescoes by Andrea Mantegna. As soon as I looked down, I realized that it would not be easy to take perfectly the same colors of the original antique terracotta and above all to choose which would have been the treatment to be applied on the surface. In addition, I was asked to make a low-thickness terracotta 1 cm.
I could not fail and, after a few days and a few nights, I managed to find the right ingredients to knead by hand and fire up the artifacts for restoration.
I invite everyone to visit the splendid Palazzo Ducale in Mantua and above all the most beautiful room in the world.
