RESTAURANT IN ABU DHABI
Tuscan terracotta for interiors
One of the incredible things that never ceases to surprise us is how much you can travel with your mind and get straight to the other side of the world. In this case, the trip was not only imaginary, but we sent part of our work directly to Abu Dhabi.
For the opening of a new restaurant, already widely known in other cities, we produced our Cotto Rosato Toscano in the Vissuto finish. The tile chosen in this case is Listello 7x30, a very popular format for the creation of modern environments, and obviously very popular for outdoor flooring. Here the style is extremely elegant and refined, whose details have been studied to perfection to bring the customer in an environment that expresses the chef’s mission: food as the perfect combination of tradition, history and culture.
So we too have brought some of our tradition, whose origins date back to the Etruscans, predecessors of our beautiful land, who handed down to us an entirely natural material to pave our homes.
Terracotta floor has always been a very popular product, whose craftsmanship with imperfections and discolorations due to wood burning, have made it the material that represents "home" par excellence. A warm, welcoming material that, even alone, can furnish an entire environment. The strong demand for terracotta that Italy has known in the 80s has then led to move the production of this material towards industry, losing all those characteristics that only the craftsmanship can give. The greatest damage was not the aesthetic one, but the loss of some very important technical characteristics.
In our Fornace in Città della Pieve we produce terracotta just like the Etruscans and ancient Romans did.
Only through the artisanal production, which involves the use of specific depth clays, manual beating, natural drying and fire-cooking, you can get a product of extreme quality, which meets the characteristics of frost, anti-mould and non-slip. And only thanks to this production, a porous product can be obtained to the point of allowing the treatment products to penetrate deeply and constitute a barrier to stains and wear.
This is why it is not true that "the terracotta stains" but that you can safely install in a restaurant without any contraindication! In this case, the treatment applied is our beloved Neutral Matte Treatment. As you can see from the photos, the effect is completely natural, leaving the color of the support unchanged and a completely opaque effect on the surface.
Is it really possible to do a DIY terracotta treatment?
Absolutely yes, and the proof is our many customers around the world, who have chosen our terracotta and use our tutorials for the application of our professional products for the treatment and care of terracotta.
