FARMHOUSE IN VAL D'ORCIA

Light terracotta floor

This splendid farmhouse is immersed in the rolling hills of the Val d'Orcia.

Imagining a project that could perfectly marry the soft colors of the Val d'Orcia, we could only choose our Cotto Chiaro Umbro, whose straw-colored shades make the environment bright and in harmony with the context.

As you can see from the photos, you can perceive the wood cooking that creates the natural shades of color given by the flames that envelop the artifacts, one by one, always giving unique colors.

For the internal flooring, the choice fell on the classic 15x30 cm Pianella, the format that best represents the historicity of such an ancient yet innovative material as terracotta.

TYPICAL AND AVANT-GARDE

In ancient times, just like today, the quality of the products chosen for the construction of the floor in the house had to respond to the need for a material that was above all resistant, but also practical. The resistance of a material such as terracotta is demonstrated by the floors of historic buildings and ancient structures that are still perfectly intact today, as well as the enormous value that ancient terracotta has acquired in its recovery. In addition, the handcrafted terracotta shows us how, with the simplest methods such as the treatment based on linseed oil and beeswax combined with a handmade and wood-fired support, they are the answer to a comfortable and practical floor to clean. In fact, the treatment makes it possible to obtain a floor that is permanently protected from stains and wear, allowing those who live in the room not to go crazy with cleaning operations.

It is important to contextualize this discussion because not all floors guarantee definitive stain resistance, and not all terracotta tiles are the same! Our goal is in fact to give the customer a top quality product, learning from tradition but always looking to the future.

ORGANIC REVOLUTION

Our terracotta is a 100% natural material, made up of ingredients such as clay and water, carefully worked by hand and cooked in wood, according to an ancient method. This biological nature, in addition to its high conductivity, make it the best floor to install on modern underfloor heating systems. The physical structure also allows the temperature to be maintained for a long time, releasing heat in relation to the external environment; the result is therefore an evident energy saving!

Our revolution then also embraces the installation and treatment materials, having formulated natural products to glue and treat the terracotta itself, capable of forming a completely non-toxic package, which gives the environment a healthy and dry heat.
