TERRACOTTA FLOOR IN RIYADH

Tuscan and Umbrian terracotta tiles

Talking about restaurant floors, we are always happy to accept the challenge to give our customers the chance to have the floor they dream of, stain resistant, practical and easy to clean.

This wonderful restaurant is located in Bujairi Terrace in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), a building that encompasses over 20 world-class dining experiences celebrating the best of international cuisine and local flavors. Here our client has opened a restaurant that offers the starred recipes of the homonymous structure opened in France, to taste the flavors of the French tradition.

For the flooring was chosen our handmade terracotta and wood-fired in two different versions: Cotto Rosato Toscano, present in the square tile format - in various sizes - and octagon, with which you insert the tile made in Cotto Chiaro Umbro. The composition of the entire floor is then polygonal, in which the square format often recurs.

Both clays chosen have been sanded manually before cooking to give the surface a lived finish, as "worn" by trampling. The result is a floor with a smooth surface, reminiscent of the terracotta of a structure lived and "walked" for a long time.

The entire production process strictly follows a historical specification that provides for the manual production of every single piece. This heterogeneity of details, shapes and colors makes each floor unique.

As already mentioned, the floor is resistant to stains and wear to which a restaurant is subject thanks to the protection given by the Anti-stain Treatment. During our thirty years of experience as producers of handmade terracotta we have formulated specific and professional products that protect the cotto to the fullest. We have carefully studied the behaviour of certain ingredients in combination with a porous support such as terracotta, for the formulation of products that are increasingly performing. The first and only inspiration that has allowed us to reach this level is certainly the story that preceded us: taking in fact inspiration from the historic protectors of terracotta, we have finally come to include among our treatments 100% organic products.

As you can see from the photos, terracotta has taken a deeper color than the classic color of Tuscan and Umbrian clay. In this case the treatment chosen is our Satin Tone Treatment, which not only has the function of protecting the terracotta, but goes to customize the floor, toning and making the color of the terracotta itself deeper. This treatment protects without creating any film, leaving the breathability intact thanks to the use of water emulsion products. The satin finish also wraps the surface and gives an excellent smoothness, which makes the surface practical and easy to clean.
