FARMHOUSE IN VAL D'ORCIA

Terre Umbre terracotta for interiors

When we talk about the renovation of farmhouses, the association with the use of natural materials, such as stone, terracotta and wood, is almost automatic, all perfectly inserted in a bucolic setting like that of the Val d'Orcia.

For the farmhouse we want to talk about, the floor was entirely covered with our Cotto Terre Umbre for Interiors, in the Antico Buttero surface finish. Let's see together the characteristics that distinguish it.

Despite the geographical area, where pink terracotta floors are usually very common, here our Terre Umbre seems to have been born exactly for this project. Surely its 'natural' look, with a soft color that recalls the colors of the earth and nature, plays a point in its favor. The strength of this mixture of clays from the Sienese and Tuscia areas lies precisely in its natural and characterizing color, which easily matches any environment and furniture.

In a beautiful place like this, nothing better than the choice of Pianella, to maintain a historically well-integrated context, referring a little to the traditional format used by farmers in the construction of country houses.

DOES THE TERRACOTTA FLOOR NOT STAIN?

Terracotta for interior floors requires an Anti-Stain Treatment which, in our case, is carried out after the floor has been laid, to protect the entire surface, once and for all! As you can see from the photos, the stain protection of this terracotta is completely imperceptible, almost invisible! The effect of the Matt Neutral Treatment is precisely to leave the surface as natural as possible, without using products that alter the color and depth of the support and without creating areas with excessive reflections. Over time, and thanks to our long experience, we have been able to give our customers the opportunity to customize the type of treatment, based on the intended use of the floor and the aesthetic need of the result.

The goal is always one: to protect the terracotta, without creating unnecessary films and making it easy and practical to clean. The stain protection, combined with a quality support, capable of absorbing the right products, makes the floor extremely easy to clean and maintain.
