The advantages of a quality terracotta

When you think of a farmhouse immersed in the greenery of splendid Umbria, it is not difficult to imagine a terracotta floor.

The choice of the format certainly helped to insert the floor in the right way in the 'rural' context. Here all the elements contribute to an environment in which historicity reigns supreme.

It is therefore useless to distance yourself from the most authentic look of handmade terracotta, the 15x30 cm Pianella.

For the flooring of this agritourism, the "Testa Avanti" laying was chosen. This type of installation was historically used in the homes of farmers, who lived on the first floor, under which it was usually easy to find the stables.

We will tell you a small detail that can help you understand the many aspects of terracotta.

In the farmhouses of the Italian countryside it is easy to find a recurring layout: on the ground floor there were obviously the stables, above which the apartments of the farmers were then built. This arrangement helped the peasants themselves to live off the heat produced by the lower floor. It is no coincidence that the terracotta was installed right here. Do you know why?

Terracotta is one of the best conductors of heat, but above all it is the greatest heat maintainer existing in nature. In fact, when we are preparing to choose a floor to install over a radiant system, it is very important to evaluate this aspect, to allow the system to work at maximum efficiency and ourselves to make the most of the heat produced.

We always advise you to inform yourself before making any choice, to avoid making huge mistakes. It would in fact be a mistake to use wood on top of a radiant system, its poor conductivity (as well as excellent insulation) is certainly not for you. Worse still if you choose to install a 'chemical floor', perhaps glued with equally harmful products, the fumes of which will coexist with the inhabitants themselves. The perception of breathing unhealthy air will be immediate if we go to choose a bad product, we will immediately perceive a strong sense of humidity, anything but beneficial.

Choosing terracotta in the presence of underfloor heating is not only an excellent choice in terms of conductivity and heat retention, but it is also a natural product that will accompany you for the rest of your life. The sense of warmth given by the aesthetic effect is certainly undoubted, but in this case, thanks also to the installation and treatment with exclusively natural products, you will have the advantage of a healthy and dry heat, for maximum living comfort.

Our artisan production also allows us to create formats with customizable thickness, up to 1 cm in height! This helps those who want to floor an accommodation facility or a second home, because it allows the temperature to be reached in less time.

ENAMELLED COTTO COVERINGS

In addition to the floors, we also contributed to the covering of the showers and the finishing of some details in the bathrooms, such as the edge of the mirror. In this case our terracotta, in addition to the first firing of the support, was then colored by hand with enamel and crystalline to then proceed to the second firing. Also in this case, the production is completely handmade, almost artistic. In this way it is possible for us to create customized coverings in terms of shape and color to give a further touch of color to the rooms.
