DIOCESAN LIBRARY OF GUBBIO

Tuscan Terracotta Floor

We had the honor to have been chosen for the flooring of the Diocesan Library of Gubbio that, in the restoration works, saw an expansion and the creation of new spaces. The project has allowed to "modernize" the structure, with new shelving and a computer system, to allow an increasingly easy use of the library, but the choice of materials to make the floor could only fall on handmade terracotta.

The archive dates back to 1567 and contains manuscripts and ecclesiastical, paleographic and historical documents, nothing better than a handmade terracotta to create an environment of warm welcome and historical origin.

Our terracotta is in fact made according to the Ancient Etruscan Method, handmade piece by piece and wood-fired to obtain an authentic and quality product.

In this case we see our Cotto Rosato Toscano in the Vissuto finish, handcrafted in square format. The artisan production allows us to create any size and size that the customer prefers, and our thirty years of experience allows us to help him in choosing the right size and the correct laying scheme that best suits the project.

THE STRENGTHS OF A HANDMADE COTTO

TOP QUALITY PRODUCT

We choose the best clay of Sienese depth, we work them manually and we bake them in wood to make a strong, compact and metallic product. Following carefully the historical production disciplinary we create a frost-resistant, anti-mould and non-slip terracotta

100% BIOLOGICAL

We use only natural ingredients and apply eco-sustainable production criteria, fully upgrading production waste. Unused raw dough is reshuffled to avoid waste. The damaged cooked materials are transformed into powder to produce the so-called pesto clay, then used as a natural additive of the dough, to give color to plasters or fillers. Finally, the wood production waste is used to feed our ovens, in order to ensure a cooking resulting from sustainable energy alone

POROUS

The right degree of porosity allows the terracotta to self-clean if installed outside, with the only help of rain and sun, while inside it allows the treatment products to penetrate deeply and protect the terracotta in a definitive way, once and for all

AUTHENTIC IN APPEARANCE

You will never find an artifact equal to the other, because made one by one, beaten in the molds manually, whose irregularities are the result of craftsmanship that allows us to deliver you a unique and unrepeatable floor
