The authenticity of our Multicolor Terracotta

Immersed in the Marche nature, stands this beautiful villa, built on the ancient ruins of an old farmhouse. A place that takes care of and transmits the love for ancient materials, craftsmanship and everything solid and pure that nature gives us.

In the wake of this beautiful project, we could not fail to use our terracotta to pave some interior spaces. It is one of our most beautiful products, Cotto Multicolor Antico Buttero, completely handmade, slipper after slipper, and fired in wood, exactly as the Etruscans did.

Handing down this tradition is an immense source of pride for the entire Maestri del Cotto family. The handcrafted production and wood cooking are the one and only reason why we can guarantee a top quality product, authentic in its aesthetic form, but above all compliant with specific technical characteristics.

After beating in wooden moulds, which allow us to customize the shape and size of the product, wood firing completes the production of a compact and highly resistant material, with a characteristic metallic sound.

WHY MULTICOLOR TERRACOTTA?

When the environment is characterized by a strong historicity, and particular attention is paid to the use of materials, the ancient origin of a material such as terracotta cannot be overlooked. In fact, in the old farmhouses the peasants made the floor of the house, both internally and externally, with a poor material, perhaps recovered from old demolitions. The individual bricks were different from each other, not only for the non-perfectly regular shape, but also for the colors.

This is where our Cotto Multicolor was born, reminiscent of the meeting of ancient supplies, in which bricks produced with different clays, or fired in several stages, constituted the heterogeneity of an authentic floor.

The Antico Buttero finish gives the floor an even more ancient flavor, recalling in all respects the terracotta of an old building, which has seen the wear of time and trampling.

COTTO FOR ACCOMMODATION STRUCTURES

The terracotta was then treated to guarantee a unique and definitive protection, able to resist stains and wear. Craft production is also fundamental in this sense as, thanks to the porosity given with this particular production, we can then protect the artifacts with specific products. During our thirty years of experience we have been able to select ingredients and products in order to provide the best treatments, tailor-made for each individual project.

Only by turning our gaze towards the past and taking inspiration from the historic protectors of terracotta, we have formulated our exclusive treatments based on beeswax and linseed oil. This allows us to definitively protect the floor, once and for all, even for accommodation facilities that need the convenience of a floor that doesn't get stained and that is always easy and practical to clean.

The peculiarity of the treatment is that it not only protects and makes the surface practical, but allows you to customize the treatment with different surface finishes to also obtain an aesthetic effect in combination with the project. In fact, a matt finish can be obtained, leaving a natural effect, rather than a satin finish which makes the floor even brighter.
