The flexible plug expansion joint system, POLYFLEX-ADVANCED PU, is a completely new development based on elastic polymers and herewith a new generation of flexible plug expansion joints. Compared to other expansion joint designs, flexible plug expansion joints offer several advantages including: unsurpassed driving comfort, nearly zero noise emission, 100 % water tightness, highly flexible installation possibilities in sections (e.g. lane-by-lane), etc.

The POLYFLEX-ADVANCED PU joint uses a durable, fully elastic material with a very high tear resistance and at the same time causing very low reaction forces.

Applications

The POLYFLEX-ADVANCED PU plug expansion joint system can be cast into nearly any joint shape (e.g. upstands, skewed angles, T and X joints, etc.). Plug expansion joints are specifically suitable for the use in bridges, infrastructural projects such as architectural and industrial structures like shopping malls, car-parks, airport buildings, runaways or railway stations. Applications in pharmaceutical industries and hospitals where sterile joints and crossings are of the utmost significance are also to be mentioned.

mageba TENSA-GRIP expansion joints are single gap joints for movements of up to 80 mm in the case of type RS, or 100 mm in the case of Type RS-LS. Type RS-LS joints feature so-called “sinus plates” on their surface, which make this increased movement possible and also reduce noise from over-passing traffic by up to 80%. The joints consist of robust steel edge profiles and replaceable elastomeric sealing profiles, which ensure long-lasting watertightness. The drainage of the joints is via the drainage system of the bridge deck.

Applications TENSA-GRIP expansion joints were developed for use in bridges with heavy traffic loading, and can readily meet the challenges of snowploughs and vehicles with exceptionally heavy loads. They can be used in both asphalt and concrete carriageways, and are detailed accordingly.

NEW: steel expansion joint by Mageba

mageba TENSA-MODULAR multiple-gap expansion joints can accommodate movements in every direction and rotations about every axis. They can be used for longitudinal movements of as little as 160 mm, or for very large movements of well over 2,000 mm. The total movement of the bridge deck is divided among a number of individual gaps which are created by horizontal surface beams. The individual gaps are sealed by watertight elastomeric profiles, and surface beam movements are regulated by an elastic control system. The drainage of the joint is via the drainage system of the bridge deck. Type LR-LS joints feature so-called “sinus plates” on their surface, which reduce noise from over-passing traffic by up to 80%.

Applications TENSA-MODULAR expansion joints are used when the movements of a bridge exceed the capacity of a single gap joint. The watertight system, which was invented by mageba several decades ago, is designed on a modular basis and can be tailored to satisfy the specific requirements of almost any structure.

mageba TENSA-CRETE expansion joints are single gap joints for movements of up to 80 mm in the case of type RE, or 100 mm in the case of Type RE-LS. Type RE-LS joints feature so-called “sinus plates” on their surface, which make this increased movement possible and also reduce noise from over-passing traffic by up to 80%. The steel edge profiles of the TENSA-CRETE joint are anchored in ROBO-FLEX, mageba’s quick-hardening and watertight polymer concrete. A key advantage is the quick and cost-effective installation of the system, which results from the joint’s being fully anchored within the depth of the road surfacing and thus requiring no breaking out of the structure beneath. Thanks to the very short curing time of the polymer concrete, traffic can already be allowed to cross the joint within a few hours of placing. The drainage of the joint is via the drainage system of the bridge deck.

Applications TENSA-CRETE expansion joints are suitable for use on bridge decks with either asphalt or concrete surfacing, and can be installed on practically every type of new or existing bridge. Thanks to their limited structural depth and quick installation, they offer great benefits when used to replace existing joints during rehabilitation works.
