SOLAR-POWERED OUTDOOR LIGHTING:

stylish, functional and efficient

Solar-powered lights have turned out to be an innovative and efficient outdoor solution. These devices harness the sun's energy to illuminate outdoor spaces in a sustainable way, without consuming electricity or contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. In this article, we take a look at their main features and advantages.

Solar-power Lights: efficient, sustainable lighting all your round

Solar-powered outdoor lights mainly stand out for being a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution. The built-in solar cells transform the sun's light energy into electricity, storing it in batteries during the day to then efficiently light up outdoor spaces at night. They often include light sensors to automatically turn on when natural light levels decrease, further maximising energy savings and extending battery life.

When using these lights, it's important to install them in a location that receives enough sunlight; the more sunlight it receives, the longer it will light up the space outdoors.

But aside from this, a factor that often makes the most difference in terms of performance is the quality of the battery.

Batteries for Solar-powered Lighting: some factors to consider

While most solar-power products currently use Li-ion batteries, lithium iron phosphate batteries are gaining popularity. These provide greater durability, safety and sustainability for solar-powered lights compared to other technologies.

The main advantages are the following:

Longer life: 2,000 to 3,000 cycles (days) versus 1,000 to 1,500 for standard lithium batteries.

High temperature resistance: The chemistry of lithium iron phosphate allows charging and discharging at high ambient temperatures without significantly affecting service life.

Safety: lithium iron phosphate is the most stable form of lithium and will never explode or burn, even at high temperatures.

Will not lose capacity over time: lithium iron phosphate batteries maintain their charge capacity until the end of their useful life.

More sustainable due to the use of phosphates instead of cobalt in their manufacture

Dopo Lighting's full range of ERGO solar-powered lights uses lithium iron phosphate batteries as well as LED technology.

The ERGO range includes a solar-powered wall light and a solar beacon available in two heights (380 mm and 680 mm). These solar-power outdoor lights are made of elegant black aluminium with an opalised polycarbonate diffuser. They only need 6 to 8 hours of charging time for 12 hours of illumination. The colour temperature of the light can be selected at the push of a button (3,000 K or 4,000 K).

The ERGO range is ideal for lighting gardens, parks and residential or hospitality projects, without the need for electrical wiring.

Night lighting with no wires or mains connection

Other advantages of solar-power outdoor lights include their mobility and ease of installation.

Unlike traditional lighting that requires cables and electrical connections, solar-powered lamps are wireless and self-contained: they can be placed wherever you want (as long as they receive enough sunlight), without the need to dig trenches or drill holes for electrical wiring.

They’re perfect for illuminating pathways, stairs or driveways, lighting up landscape features or creating a special atmosphere quickly and easily.

Choose from solar-powered wall lights, lampposts, beacons or solar projectors, depending on the setting you want to illuminate, with no need for wiring or electrical installations.

Dopo Lighting's TONA range of solar-powered wall lights is designed to be easily fixed to the wall. They are available in symmetrical and asymmetrical versions and are equipped with a motion sensor. Both versions feature 3 operating modes which the user can select using a push button:

- Low-intensity lighting throughout the night;

- Low-intensity lighting throughout the night, with an increase when motion is detected;

- Lighting only when motion is detected.

The motion sensor can be deactivated depending on the selected operating mode.

Versatile and easy to position or move

Another key advantage of using solar-powered outdoor lights is their versatility. Dopo Lighting offers a variety of designs, sizes and styles, allowing architects and landscape architects to choose the most suitable option for each project.

Whether it’s a modern garden or a rustic country villa, there’s always a solar-powered lamp to suit the aesthetic and functional requirements of each setting.

One particularly versatile option is the LUMBER, a solar projector that can be installed on the ground by anchoring its base, on a lamppost (included with the projector and available in 2 heights) or as a wall light.

This highly versatile project can accommodate all possible applications, with two different lighting intensities controlled by a push button. It guarantees great value for money.

Solar-powered tabletop lamps: a discovery for many

Speaking of versatility, you might not know about Dopo Lighting’s VERSA range, our new portable, tabletop solar-powered lamp with LED technology, 3,000 K colour temperature and 3 lighting intensities controlled by a push button, reaching up to 1,000 lm.

As well as solar charging, the VERSA can also be charged via USB-C cable (included with the lamp). This feature makes it ideal for creating a cosy atmosphere on a patio or garden table or even for indoor use.
