A mosaic of terracotta bricks

Atelier 360° Architecture

The horizontal stepped spaces of this new school in the Vidailhan business park in Balma-Gramont sit on a slope offering open views to the south.

Meriem Bekkoucha, the architect managing the project, explained why they made this choice: “ We really like «brique foraine. Of course the type of brick is a reference to the long tradition of using terracotta in the Toulouse area but it’s also particularly good here at emphasizing the horizontality of the spaces in this build and making very durable externally insulated walls. The 40cm brick gives a new contemporary look to a traditional material, with the mosaic of the four shades that we have selected.”
