BERA® RailFix is an innovative and patented system developed through long-term testing for tram- and light rail tracks. It was created in cooperation with Czech partners and responds to the growing need for cities to provide rainwater drainage, and more greenery and biodiversity into infrastructure without compromising functionality or maintenance.
In 2026, this unique concept was awarded the prestigious Dutch Innovation Award, continuing BERA’s successful track record. The RailFix Award confirms the company’s long-term focus on innovation, sustainability, and practical solutions for landscaping and healthier cities.
As cities face increasing pressure to reduce the urban heat island effect, tram corridors are becoming ideal spaces for greenery. RailFix fully utilizes this potential through a modular system filled with gravel and covered with sedum. Individual modules can be easily removed, serviced, and reinstalled, significantly simplifying maintenance and minimizing disruption to operations.
