Berti inlaid parquet for the National Theatre of Baku
The restoration of wooden floors at Azerbaijan’s Opera and Ballet Theatre combines historic patterns, craftsmanship and precision laser cutting.
At the National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Baku, Azerbaijan, Berti Pavimenti Legno contributed to the restoration of the historic flooring through a project focused on reproducing decorative parquet.
Wood flooring that respects the original design
The project sought to recapture the appearance of the original surfaces. The existing flooring was studied and samples were produced before the wood was processed, with particular attention to the composition of the inlays and their relationship with the theatre’s decorative features.
Inlays: laser technology and craftsmanship
To reproduce the decorative details, Berti combined laser technology with craftsmanship. The process described in the project reference includes design, sampling, cutting, installation and surface finishing.
A reference project for cultural architecture
The project illustrates the role of inlaid parquet in the restoration of historic interiors: a surface that contributes to a building’s architectural identity through materials, geometric patterns and decoration.
