The “Mallorca” Recycling Bin Has Landed… at Mallorca Airport!

An Airport with History (and Heavy Traffic)

Palma de Mallorca Airport—also known as Son Sant Joan—isn’t just any airport. Built in 1960 and located just 8 km from the city center, it has grown into one of the main gateways to the Balearic Islands. With over 29 million passengers a year, it’s the third busiest airport in Spain, connecting travelers to more than 140 international destinations across Europe and North Africa.

Yes, you read that right: millions of people, thousands of flights and... tons of waste generated daily. And that’s where our star product steps in.

“Mallorca” in Mallorca (No, It’s Not a Joke!)

We’ve had the honour of installing our “Mallorca” selective recycling bin in one of the airport’s dining areas. And why this bin in particular? Let us explain...

The “Mallorca” bin is built for high-traffic food areas, such as corporate cafeterias, fast-food restaurants, and food courts. It keeps up with the pace of hungry travellers, busy staff and lost tourists who (luckily) do find where to recycle.

With capacity for up to five waste streams with great capacity, including a dedicated liquids option, the “Mallorca” is practically a compact recycling station on wheels:

• Clearly separated compartments for solids and liquids

• Front-access doors with magnetic closure (or a key for those unruly liquids)

• Top tray holder (you never knew how much you needed this!)

• Six wheels for full mobility—three of them with brakes, so it doesn’t roll off to catch a flight on its own

• Made from robust MDF with powder-coated galvanized steel finishing—durability and style in one smart unit

And while Mallorca gives it its name, it’s definitely not limited to the island. This model has already been selected by prestigious institutions such as the Caen Memorial Museum in France and the Royal Spanish Football Federation. In other words, wherever there’s culture or football... there’s smart recycling too.

Final Thoughts

The fact that Mallorca Airport has trusted us to support their sustainability goals is no coincidence. It’s a clear sign that recycling should be present in every major international hub—and doing so with clever design, functionality, and a Mediterranean flair doesn’t go unnoticed.

Want to bring the Mallorca bin to your business, restaurant or institution? Of course you can! Because Mallorca isn’t just an island… it’s a smart way to care for the planet.
