Rugs for Office Spaces
From Workplace to Wellness: The Value of Handcrafted Rugs in Meeting and Relaxation Spaces
In today’s workplaces, dominated by glass and metal, the rug is no longer a mere accessory: it adds texture and color, improves acoustic comfort, defines areas within open-plan spaces, and shapes break-out corners where people can recover focus and well-being. Meeting rooms, lounges, reception areas, and relaxation zones are where this role is most evident.
Luoghi: A Textile Painting for Meeting Rooms
Hand-woven in wool and hand-painted on both sides, Luoghi is a modular system of hand-stitched sections, available in ten base colors with customizable stitching colors and sizes. Each piece reads like a textile painting. In the IOC’s New York offices, Gensler chose its gray-green brushstrokes to soften conference rooms and executive spaces.
Fluid: Seamless Continuity
Designed by Deanna Comellini, Fluid includes hand-tufted carpets and rugs made in a single continuous piece up to 12 meters wide, even for curved or irregular layouts. New for 2026 is a version in 100% regenerated ECONYL® nylon, which joins New Zealand wool, Tencel™, and blends. Fluid was used at One Thousand Museum in Miami, a project by Zaha Hadid.
ECONYL® is made by recovering pre- and post-consumer waste, including fishing nets, textile scraps, and old carpets. The material offers performance comparable to virgin nylon and can be regenerated again, contributing to a circular economy model.
Luoghi and Fluid will also be on display at IDD Cologne, October 27–31, 2026, held concurrently with Orgatec, where G.T.DESIGN will show how textiles can give identity and warmth to today’s workspaces.
Textures, Shapes, and Materials for Every Space
G.T.DESIGN’s offering extends to other collections designed for the different needs of the workplace.
Textures Millerighe reinterprets the traditional matting in an ultra-thin, all-wool version.
Next offers many designs for every need, including customized ones, made to measure in rectangular, square, or round formats, up to large sizes and even wall-to-wall.
For lounges and reception areas, UltraNative interprets the exclusive Native format, a shape midway between a circle and an irregular rectangle, characterized by fluid contours and patterns reminiscent of brushstrokes.
Suited to high-traffic areas, Moving Forest is a biophilic collection inspired by light filtering through foliage, made with high-performance ECONYL® yarn that holds up even in the busiest passageways.
