Project Overview:

Nestled in the heart of Cagliari, Palazzo Tirso is where Sardinia’s rich heritage meets modern sophistication, offering an elegant seaside urban retreat. Housed within the historic Palazzo Tirso, this five-star hotel is a true architectural gem dating back to the 1920s. Recently restored by Studio Marco Piva, the building’s Liberty façade has been revived to its former glory, while its spacious interiors have been reimagined with a contemporary touch.

To enhance the “Cielo Rooftop Experience”, offering a breathtaking 360-degree view over Cagliari, a bespoke shading solution was essential—one that would blend style and comfort seamlessly. The hotel entrusted KE’s PMO office with designing the optimal solution. The need to replace the existing umbrellas and increase the rooftop’s hospitality capacity lead the design vision on a modular solar shading system that harmonizes with the architectural and historical identity of the building, providing effective yet light and elegant shading that respects its surroundings.

Sleek lines, essential aesthetics, and modular versatility defined the ideal solution: KEPLAN, KE’s innovative flat-roof aluminum pergola with a retractable fabric cover, designed to seamlessly integrate into contemporary architectural projects. Breaking away from traditional sloped-roof pergola designs, KEPLAN combines functionality, comfort, and a refined geometric structure, making it ideal for diverse outdoor settings.

A defining feature of KEPLAN is its low-arched roof profile, which reduces overall height while enhancing visual harmony and aesthetics.

For Palazzo Tirso’s rooftop, the matte gray structure with matte white crossbeams was carefully chosen to complement the building’s elegant and timeless style, ensuring a minimal impact on its historic surroundings. LED lighting along the roof profiles enhances both functionality and ambiance, elevating the space into a bespoke scenic experience by KE.
