ELEGANT VILLA IN FLORENCE, ITALY

Our Cotto Rosato meets Florentine Historicity

Today we present one of our works made in the beautiful Florence, one of the most historic cities in the use of terracotta. In this villa we see the use of our Cotto Rosato Toscano.

Here the clay used is that coming from Siena, which allows to obtain a terracotta with pinkish hues, lighter than the classic Florentine terracotta which stands out precisely for its intense red color. Finally, wood cooking allows us to obtain a product with natural nuances. In this project, sticking to the creation of an environment rich in historical elements, the choice fell on the Quadra 20x20 cm format, the most suitable format for the creation of an important and particularly elegant environment, in addition to the creation of a Vissuto Finish which has made the surface smoother and with a "walked" appearance than a historic terracotta.

To protect the floor permanently, we have created a Neutral Matt Treatment. The effect of the protection is completely natural, almost invisible, which leaves the floor neutral and opaque looking. The products used are aqueous emulsion, easy to apply and characterized by rapid drying.

The incredible heterogeneity of this material has allowed the entry of an element initially considered "poor" into the most important historic buildings, which still maintain the original terracotta. This is because, above all, the use of Florentine clay and the artisanal production has made it possible to create a top quality product, extremely strong, compact and resistant, therefore ideal both for outdoor use, exposing it to atmospheric agents and natural corrosion, and for internal use. The artisan production has also allowed the customization and creation of a product suitable for different contexts.

Throughout the Renaissance period, terracotta was in fact the most used material for the construction and cladding of the most important buildings in the city. Given the flourishing period, which saw Florence as a point of reference from which artists and craftsmen took their cue by exporting the Renaissance style and method throughout Italy, terracotta also experienced an intense expansion, reaching our days in its most Pretty.
