At Salewa Opera at heights. The lunch break becomes panoramic

In Bolzano, Salewa’s headquarters is expanding its cafeteria with a rooftop terrace offering panoramic views. The centerpiece is Pratic’s bioclimatic pergola, which creates a functional outdoor space nestled within the Dolomite landscape.

In Bolzano, in the heart of the Dolomites, the famous Salewa’s headquarters, a meeting point among innovation, architecture and alpine spirit, is enhanced by a new open-air space, designed to extend the canteen and to open it to the extraordinary surrounding landscape. The project, developed by the dealer Paller Srl, reconfigures the green roof of the building in a panoramic terrace, thus creating a functional and immersive solution where nature and architecture dialogue in perfect harmony thanks to the mediation of the pergola Opera by Pratic.

Two self-supporting modules of the bioclimatic pergola Opera have been juxtaposed and connected to the pre-existing veranda, thus creating a new wide outdoor space measuring 837,7 x 500 centimeters. The lines of the solar shading faithfully follow those of the building, creating a fluid and harmonious extension. The color Graphite Blackboard 68/70703, chosen among the ones offered by Tiger palette, blends with the gray scale that characterizes the metal sheet facade of Salewa’s headquarters. Lighter tones have been chosen for Raso retractable awnings that accentuate the brightness and elegance of the room, thus offering effective protection from the sun.

Opera guarantees optimal use of the space thanks to the sunshade blades adjustable up to 140 degrees, regulating light and ventilation in a natural way. The Slide Glass 60 glass walls protect the space from wind and rain, thus allowing a continuous visual connection with the landscape and the Alto Adige peaks. The Quadra light spotlights integrated into the blades offer effective lighting, whereas the irradiating lamps, integrated by the customer, extend comfort even during the coolest seasons.

In order to ensure a perfectly flat base, the grassy terrain of the rooftop has been excavated up to the sheath for housing the modular platform Set, custom-made and covered with wooden flooring. The rainwater drainage is frontal, above the platform, simulating a slab structure.
The outcome, spectacular and perfectly integrated into the building, is also the result of an exceptional installation, carried out by aerial transport via helicopter and coordinated by the Pratic dealer.

The outdoor project reflects the architectural philosophy of Salewa’s headquarters: a space-place able to connect everyday experience with the inspiring natural horizon.
Opera is therefore not only a functional extension of the canteen, but also a true hanging oasis, where the Dolomites’ view becomes an integral part of work and life.
