REHABILITATION OF INDUSTRIAL BUILDING WITH VENTILATED FACADES

Sistema Masa has started a few weeks ago the rehabilitation works of the industrial machinery Ventura Machinery (Aiguaviva, Girona). It is a building of the 80s that urgently needed a reform of its structure. This rehabilitation of the industrial building includes rainscreen facades and a review of the systems of support and support. The industrial building was built with a metallic structure as structural arches complemented by pillars formed by UPN's, which in turn were welded frontally to support the horizontal omega profiles that supported the facade cladding. For the arches, solid Zeta profiles were used, while the enclosure was designed in greased sheet.

In particular, the rehabilitation has consisted of reinforcing the horizontal metal structure with consecutive pillars using the same section of the existing profile. In this way, we make sure that it can withstand the vertical load of the ceramic tile of the new design. In addition, in the upper part the double slope has been eliminated to make a rectangular recessing of the ventilated façade using buttresses supported on the Zeta support profiles of the cover.

As in the case of houses and buildings, the rehabilitation of an industrial warehouse is key to ensure the proper functioning of the building and, above all, to optimize resources. A reform of an industrial warehouse can improve possible damages, correct possible health risks and resolve damages in the structure. The vast majority of industrial building reforms include the installation of ventilated facades. The main reason is that with the energy savings achieved, they can invest what is saved in other projects or improvement works.
