Testarossa Superdiecimila airless paint sprayer for quartz and siloxane facade paints

How quartz coatings are sprayed: tip, filters and choosing the machine by viscosity

The Superdiecimila is the diaphragm airless paint sprayer TECNOVER recommends for siloxane and quartz exterior paints, as well as epoxy resins and asbestos encapsulants. It has a 1.8 kW electric motor, a standard pressure setting of 230 bar (configurable up to 250) and a free flow of 9 litres per minute, handles up to 70 metres of hose even with vertical lift, and takes tips up to 0.041". In TECNOVER's application limits table it handles coatings up to 25,000 cPs and particle sizes up to 400 microns.
For anyone specifying or supervising a facade job, the key question is how a quartz coating is sprayed. With a good-quality, very fine quartz flour the usual tip is 0.025"; with coarser fillers you move up to 0.027", and only occasionally to 0.029". At the gun, the green 30 Mesh filter is the right choice if the white 50 Mesh keeps clogging. If suction struggles, the suction tube takes the 15 Mesh stainless steel drum filter, with a wider mesh, in place of the standard 30 Mesh.
The valves are stainless steel with tungsten carbide seats, and the hoses are steel-braided. The sprayer is designed and built in Muggiò, near Milan, and a full service is done the same day in the TECNOVER workshop.
TECNOVER's rule for customers is: "A sprayer should be sized to the viscosity of the coatings you want to apply, not to how often you use it or how much surface you cover." Even a single facade in quartz paint needs a machine that can atomise it properly.
