Terraces in the French department of Calvados

For this reason, waterproofing work had to be carried out. In the search for a reliable, DTA-certified solution which would entail as short a period of works as possible, the Triflex systems came highly recommended. In order to appropriately handle the issue of residual moisture in the substrate, the contractor decided in favour of the only system on the market which combines rapid waterproofing and integrated uncoupling membranes: Triflex ProDrain. Thanks to its drying time of less than 30 minutes per layer, the residents would be able to delight in their renovated terraces in no time at all. With this system, the integrated uncoupling membranes eliminate the residual moisture in the substrate in the form of water vapour without having to remove the existing substrate.

The tiles were removed to prepare for the new waterproofing. The metal and plastic parts (primarily door sills) were degreased with Triflex Cleaner and roughened with sandpaper.

Following this, the very wet concrete substrates were covered with Armatop MP modified hydraulic mortar. Triflex DC-MAT uncoupling membranes were laid on the fresh mortar. One hour after laying the membranes, the epoxide primer Triflex Pox R100 was applied and then dressed with quartz sand.

The Triflex BTS-P waterproofing system was subsequently applied. This DTA-certified waterproofing system is combined with a waterproofing layer of Triflex ProTerra, which has an estimated service life of 25 years as per ETA (European Technical Approval, class W3).

The result: a visually appealing waterproofing system which can be walked on immediately and implemented within a short period of time. Thanks to Triflex ProDrain, costly demolition work and rubble disposal could be avoided. In addition, it was not necessary to wait until the substrate was completely dry.
