THE ECO-DESIGNED QUARTZ-ZINC® SURFACE ASPECT IS AWARDED FOOTPRINT PROGRESS® CERTIFICATION

VMZINC®, which has been taking an eco-design approach for its rolled zinc products since 2010, has obtained FOOTPRINT PROGRESS® certification for its QUARTZ-ZINC® surface aspect from BUREAU VERITAS. This certification validates progress generated by continuous improvement efforts made on the QUARTZ-ZINC® preweathering line. These efforts made it possible to decrease energy consumption and volumes of consumables. This in turn made it possible to reduce environmental impacts by between 5 % and over 70 %, depending on the impact indicators (e.g. - 15 % for energy indicators). The brand, for which sustainable building issues are a core consideration, aims to provide rolled zinc products that are more respectful of the environment throughout their lifespan, from the design phase through to the recycling.

To deliver FOOTPRINT PROGRESS® certification for a period of three years*, BUREAU VERITAS examines the results** of the product’s Life Cycle Analysis and the consideration given to the environmental dimension in the company’s design and development process.
