Folia and Lithos Wood benches by Calzolari: a vibrant touch in Arese
Greener and cooler: the citizens of Arese decide to give their central square a new life
"Sinuous green" is the name of the project chosen by the citizens of Arese, Italy, to redevelop the central square of the city, long considered dull, plain and lifeless.
Concluded in 2023, the project has given the square a more lively, gentle and welcoming look, with generous green and rest areas equipped with benches and shade structures.
To translate the concept of "sinuosity" into the language of urban furniture, Calzolari proposed two of its iconic concrete benches: the Folia and the Lithos, merged together to create playful arabesques. Folia’s sinuous and vibrant lines mingle and connect to the Lithos’ sober geometry and warm wooden touch, giving shape to the “islands” of rest and inviting people to slow down, enjoy a break and, why not, a pleasant conversation – something that a square truly needs to be "alive" again.
