Green roofs and vertical gardens in the new Plaza de Armas in Seville

This project, which combines green roofs and vertical gardens in the remodeling of the Plaza de Armas, in Seville, has been promoted by Adif , owner of the plaza, and Mercadona, for the construction of its new supermarket, and is located in one of the most emblematic spaces of the city.

The architect Jesús Vitoria, from Mercadona's technical services, was clear from the conception of the project, the importance of this new vegetable skin within the project. It was designed to include a very important sustainability and nature component, aimed at the enjoyment of citizens and which has ended up becoming a hallmark of the intervention.

The project was entrusted to the company García Gil Proyectos de Jardinería , our regular collaborator in Seville. Together with Gonzalo García , the technician in charge of the company, we have developed the technical and landscape design of the vertical gardens and the green roofs , located on each of the emergency exits that are organized around the square.

In this project we have also collaborated with Alfonso Castellano, and his company Aimsur , which provided technical advice and the supply of components for the construction of the garden roofs.
